Two New Judges Appointed To The Supreme Court

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Yvette D’Ath today announced the appointment of two new judges to the Supreme Court in Brisbane.
Elizabeth Wilson QC and Thomas Bradley QC will begin their appointments on December 3.
“With more than 50 years’ experience in the legal profession between them, Ms. Wilson and Mr. Bradley will bring a wealth of knowledge to the bench.” Attorney-General D’Ath said.
“Role of a judicial officer is a significant one, requiring a cool head and a sharp mind.”
“It takes a special type of person with certain qualities. Ms. Wilson, a barrister of 22 years, and Mr. Bradley, a barrister of 18 years, have shown they have the dedication to justice, objectivity and integrity needed to fulfil the important role of a judge of the Supreme Court.
“I congratulate them on their appointments and wish them all the best.” Attorney-General D’Ath said.
“Palaszczuk Government announced funding for an extra judge for the Supreme Court and I am pleased that this position has now been filled.”
Elizabeth Wilson QC
Ms. Wilson has spent 26 years in the legal profession. She has appeared in various public inquiries and royal commissions, been a sessional member of the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal (QCAT) and the Anti-Discrimination Tribunal Queensland, a member of the Bar Council and served as Chair of the Bar Association of Queensland’s (BAQ) criminal law committee, along with serving on the Law Council of Australia’s national criminal law and human rights committees.
Ms. Wilson is also currently a member of the Bond University Law Advisory Board, Supreme Court White Ribbon Day Breakfast organising committee, BAQ Professional Complaints Committee and Queensland Industrial Relations Commission Workers’ Compensation User Group.
Thomas Bradley QC
Mr. Bradley has worked full-time in law for more than 30 years. He has appeared in various public inquiries and royal commissions, been a sessional member and a practitioner panel member of QCAT, lectured at QUT and the University of Queensland and authored two publications.
Mr. Bradley is also Honorary Treasurer of the BAQ and currently a member of the Bar Council, Council of the National Library of Australia and the Queensland Art Gallery and Gallery of Modern Art Foundation Committee, along with President of Access Arts Inc and Chair of the Brisbane Festival Giving Committee.
