  • South West Development Commission (SWDC) relocates its Collie office to a more prominent and accessible location
  • New office location comes as efforts to create jobs and boost the economy ramp up
  • Supports interagency collaboration through the provision of a hot-desking area

Minister for Regional Development Alannah MacTiernan and Collie-Preston MLA Mick Murray have today officially opened the South West Development Commission’s new office in Collie.

“Our investment in Collie is opening doors for job-creating, economy-boosting projects to set up in town.” Minister for Regional Development Alannah MacTiernan said.

“A new location for the South West Development Commission will ensure the State Government is working in the heart of Collie, with our doors open to support local business.”

State Government agency has relocated to the landmark Old Post Office building on Throssell Street, providing a more prominent and accessible location for the SWDC that reflects the McGowan Government’s strong commitment to the South-West town.

An on-site, hot-desking area acts as a central hub for other agencies working in the town on initiatives, including those requiring a multi-agency approach to stimulating economic diversification and job creation.

Among the work being undertaken to support the economic diversification of the Collie region is an economic development plan for the Collie and Bunbury regions.

In support of this, funding is currently available to assist industry-led projects to establish or expand in Collie, with up to $2 Million per project on offer through the Collie Futures Industry Development Fund.

Collie Futures Industry Development Fund is the second grants program made possible through the $20 Million Collie Futures Fund, which was set up to drive the diversification of the Collie economy.
