Police Minister Michelle Roberts and Collie-Preston MLA Mick Murray today announced the preferred site of the new Capel Police Station.
Site, bordered by Spurr Street and Prowse Road, is located in the Capel township.
“This is a significant milestone which delivers on our commitment to build a new Police station in Capel.” Minister for Police Michelle Roberts said.
“This Government is not just talking about the importance of regional Policing, we’re taking action.”
McGowan Government is delivering on its commitment to build a new Police station at Capel to provide a much stronger Police presence, and boost community safety in the town and its surrounds.
$8 Million has been allocated in the State Budget and design of the station has commenced.
“Capel Police Station will provide the missing link for the South-West and perfectly complement the surrounding shires.” Collie-Preston MLA Mick Murray said.
“For many years, the people of Capel have been without a Police presence so I am pleased that this project will make our regional communities safer.”
Residents and business owners in Capel are being encouraged to attend a community consultation meeting to be held later this month at the Capel Community Centre.
Western Australia Police Force representatives will be on hand to provide further information on the station design, local opportunities and benefits to the community and operational Policing.
Anticipated completion date for the Police station is mid-2020.
