Retail Trade Growth Another Sign Of A Fast-Growing Economy

There’s more good news for Tasmania’s fast-growing economy with the latest ABS retail trade figures for November 2018 showing a 5.3 % growth in retail trade in Tasmania compared to the same time the year before, Acting Treasurer Elise Archer said.

“This annual growth puts Tasmania as the second strongest state and confirms once again the strength of the economy under the Hodgman Government.”

Retail trade is now at a series record of $548.8 Million for the month.

These strong results for November 2018 mark the 49th month in Tasmania of continuous growth in retail trade. Such a strong run of growth is a vote of confidence by consumers in the Tasmanian economy and is a good sign as we start the new year.

Today’s retail trade figures come on the back of ABS figures released earlier this week showing Tasmania leading the pack on housing approvals, exports, international visitors and job vacancies.

“These remarkable results show that Tasmania’s economy is going to the next level thanks to the Hodgman Government’s long-term Plan.” Acting Treasurer Elise Archer said.
