Supporting Northern Victoria’s Farmers

Andrews Government is supporting our farmers through drought, helping them prepare for and manage the effects of dry conditions through the On-Farm Drought Infrastructure Support Grant program.

Minister for Agriculture Jaclyn Symes today visited Mark and Annette Radford, who were one of more than 2,300 applicants for the State Government’s grant program after their sheep farm in Creightons Creek was affected by drought.

Radford family received a grant to purchase extra water tanks that allowed them to improve their existing stock containment area, as well as taking part in programs like BestWool/BestLamb to increase their farm’s productivity.

“We’re proud to be supporting farmers through tough seasonal conditions, making sure farms are better equipped to prepare for drought and we’re thrilled to have had more than 2,300 applications for the grants in just a few months.” Minister for Agriculture Jaclyn Symes said.

“We’re backing a number of programs available to help farmers and their families through tough dry conditions, they shouldn’t have to go it alone.”

Andrews Government’s On-Farm Drought Infrastructure Support program provides up to $5,000 to help farms prepare for drought and dry conditions across Central and East Gippsland, Northern and North West Victoria.

As a part of the almost $30 Million support package to help Victorian farmers, the Government has also delivered technical decision-making workshops through Agriculture Victoria to over 2,000 farmers since May.
