December Round Of CBF Grants Awarded

Northern Territory Government has awarded a total of $4.4 Million in the December round of the CBF Major and Minor Community Organisation Grants and Major Community Events Program Grants to local community organisations.
“Territory Government’s top priority is jobs and these grants will support many local jobs in the Territory.” Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Natasha Fyles said.
“These grants are funding tourist-attracting festivals in Central Australia and the Top End that put valuable dollars into our economy. It’s supporting youth programs, delivering upgrades to infrastructure that benefits the community and creating a more inclusive environment by improving access to buildings for people with disabilities.”
CBF Grants now provide greater certainty and are more streamlined for local community organisations, providing a much-needed boost to the Northern Territory economy.
Round 1 of the Major Community Organisation Grants will see 26 local community organisations receive up to $2.4 Million in grant funding to support the purchase of a modified minibus, infrastructure upgrades, a new clubhouse and outdoor learning area and much more.
Round 1 of the Major Community Event Program Grants will provide 11 Event community organisations with up to $2.1 Million in funding for up to 3 years for events like the Henley on Todd, the NT Writers Festival, the local Nightcliff Seabreeze Festival and many more exciting local events.
Chung Wah society is one of the local organisations to receive a Major Community Events, Program Grant. The funding will be used for the local Chinese New Year Festival from 2019 until 2021 providing funding certainty for the event, ensuring Territorians and tourists can enjoy this event for years to come.
“To be able to bring a Chinese New Year Festival to Darwin with the help of the NT Government is hugely exciting.” Major Events Project Manager of the Chung Wah Society, Tina Griffiths said.
“Today’s announcement heralds a new tradition as this grant permits us to deliver the first totally inclusive Chinese cultural festival to the Top End.”
