A Liberal & Nationals Government will invest $30 Million in a new carpark for Dubbo hospital, boosting investment in the facility’s upgrade to over $300 Million.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional New South Wales John Barilaro said this investment demonstrates the Nationals’ commitment to improving health facilities throughout rural and regional New South Wales.

“Providing suitable parking to improve access to the hospital’s services is a priority especially in rural and regional areas where patients and their families often have a long drive to their nearest hospital.” Deputy Premier Barilaro said.

“Since 2011, more than $276 Million will have been invested in the Dubbo hospital redevelopment once Stages 3 & 4 have been completed, as well as $45 Million towards the Dubbo Western Cancer Centre.”

“With the Nationals in government we are seeing a record investment in regional hospitals, we have built or upgraded more than 50 regional New South Wales hospitals, making up for decades of neglect under previous Labor governments.” Deputy Premier Barilaro said.

Nationals’ candidate for Dubbo Dugald Saunders said it’s estimated more than 350 additional car parking spaces will be made available as a result of the $30 Million investment.

“Since becoming Nationals’ candidate for Dubbo I’ve been campaigning for a new carpark at Dubbo hospital.” Mr. Saunders said.

“Carpark at Dubbo hospital can no longer handle the demands of patients and staff who need ready access to our expanding hospital services.”

“Today’s announcement proves that when you have a loud voice in government you can get things done.”

“Labor Party will talk about building hospitals and schools in regional New South Wales but the reality is that for 16 years they neglected the regions.” Mr. Saunders said.

Since 1920 the National Party has existed to look after the interests of those in rural and regional areas.

Best that the Labor Party can do is to tack ‘Country’ onto its name and pretend that they care about Rural and Regional New South Wales.

“New South Wales Liberals & Nationals care about people in the bush and will work to ensure the best access to modern healthcare facilities closer to home. This is a priority for this Government and today’s announcement once again highlights this commitment.” Mr. Saunders said.

Design details of the carpark will be based on the outcomes of Health Infrastructure’s car parking feasibility and planning processes.
