Boost For Tasmanian Youth Arts

6 organisations will share in over $200,000 of funding to deliver activities that engage Tasmania’s young people in the arts, in the latest round of the Youth Arts Organisations Program, Minister for the Arts Elise Archer said.

“This comes as part of the Hodgman Majority Government’s commitment to providing opportunities for our young people to develop their creative skills.” Minister Archer said.

These activities will provide opportunities for young Tasmanians to participate in theatre and performance, writing and storytelling, and music and song-making under the guidance of professional practitioners.

Participating in creative programs not only encourages our next generation of young artists to develop their skills, but also helps to improve social health and wellbeing.

Big Monkey Theatre Inc., will receive funding to present an accessible public season of The Wind in The Willows at the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens, engaging and inspiring families with children of all ages as well as large school groups.

Emerging organisation, The Story Island Project, will receive support to deliver Stories Sown, Stories Grown a series of free workshops that focus on storytelling and writing skills for young people. The organisation engages professional artists to work with young people, encouraging them to use their imagination whilst building their confidence and creative skills.
