  • Awards, open to all primary and secondary schools in Western Australia, recognise excellence in STEM education
  • Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM)

Science Minister Dave Kelly and Education and Training Minister Sue Ellery thanked Her Excellency the Honourable Kerry Sanderson AC, Governor of Western Australia for 2017 Governor’s School STEM Awards.

STEM awards, now in their third consecutive year, encourage best practice in STEM education in WA schools by recognising school principals and leadership teams for their support and leadership in developing their schools’ STEM education programs during 2017.

“Governor’s ambassadorship recognises the importance of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education to Western Australia.” Minister for Science Dave Kelly said.

In a world in which 75 % of fast-growing occupations require STEM skills, the awards aim to enhance student interest and achievement in STEM learning from a young age by encouraging schools as early facilitators of STEM education.
