Anglesea Ramp Completed For Summer

Works to repair the Anglesea Caravan Park beach access ramp and surrounding land have been completed ahead of schedule and are ready for the summer holidays.

“It’s great to see the ramp back in action ahead of what will no doubt be another busy summer down at Anglesea and it’s a win for the local community and visitors heading down the coast over the break.” Minister for Water Lisa Neville said.

“These works were essential to ensure public safety near the cliff area following rapid erosion over the past two years.”

$100,000 Anglesea Caravan Park beach access ramp works, funded by the Andrews Government’s Coastal Environments Program and the Great Ocean Road Coast Committee address an immediate visitor risk following rapid coastal erosion.

Early completion is a great result for the many visitors who are about to spend their holidays in Anglesea.

Anglesea Caravan Park beach access ramp was repaired to maintain safe pedestrian access to the beach and allows launching of small craft such as kayaks. The works will reduce further erosion and make the area safe and accessible for the community.

Rock revetment was designed by coastal engineers AW Maritime who considered the local cliff geomorphology and sea and wave conditions. The works were delivered by experienced coastal contractors Maw Civil Pty Ltd.

State Government and the Great Ocean Road Coast Committee thank the community for their patience and understanding during construction.

The community will be consulted on longer-term management options for the site in early 2017.

“It was critical that we continue to manage community access to these much loved areas of the coastline, and address a public safety issue.” Ms. Neville said.
