Referral To Privileges Committee

State Government supports the referral of Adam Brooks to the Privileges Committee of the Parliament, Premier Will Hodgman said.

Privileges Committee is the appropriate body to consider whether the findings of the Integrity Commission Report constitute a breach of privileges or the Standing Orders of the House.

“As I said yesterday following the tabling of the Integrity Commission report, these are serious matters and they have led to Mr. Brooks losing his Cabinet position, not being considered for Cabinet since, and not being considered for Cabinet in the foreseeable future.” Premier Hodgman said.

“He has also lost the position of Government Whip and Deputy Chair of Committees, and the Government is also supporting the referral to the Privileges Committee.”

“I’ve been clear in saying that Mr. Brooks’ actions were very disappointing and fell short of my expectations, and he has paid a heavy price for his conduct.” Premier Hodgman said.

“I have decided it would be in everyone’s best interest if I pay my own legal fees.”

“I will reimburse the Government for the amount paid to date, and I will not be claiming any further costs.”

“I will not be making any further comments my intention now is to concentrate on my health.” Mr. Brooks said.
