King Islanders Appalled With Frontline Health Cuts Like All Tasmanians
Victor P Taffa
Shadow Minister for Health Jeremy Rockliff said the furore over an entourage of bureaucrats chartering a plane to King Island just highlights the frustration of King Islanders like all Tasmanians, over the cruel and heartless budget cuts to frontline health services.
“The savage impact of the Labor-Green Government’s budget cuts was highlighted in the December Health Progress Chart.”
“Waiting lists blew out by over 20 % on the North West coast and by nearly 10 % in the north, while waiting times for surgery have increased in Hobart and Launceston.”
“The Liberals believe adequate health care for all Tasmanians is a right and must be a government priority.” Mr. Rockliff said.
“The Liberals have a clear plan to cut nearly $480 Million of Government waste and use that money to rebuild frontline services, including pumping $76 Million back into elective surgery along with strategies to achieve our goal of Tasmania having the healthiest population in Australia by 2025.”
“We support the recent investment in hospital infrastructure on King Island however the Labor-Green government has a long way to go when it comes to addressing elective surgery waiting lists in the region.” Mr. Rockliff said.
