  • Supports broad range of regional community facility requirements
  • Contributes to improvement of regional lifestyles

The Liberal National Government has announced $3.877Million in Royalties for Regions funding to support six projects prioritised by groups of local governments in four of Western Australia’s regions.

Regional Development Minister Brendon Grylls said the funding, through the Country Local Government Fund (CLGF), supported strategic community projects that delivered benefits across a broad geographical area.

“This latest Royalties for Regions investment provides for improvements to a range of projects, including aged care, leisure, sporting and entertainment facilities.” Mr. Grylls said.

“Aged care providers Moora Frail Aged Lodge and Killara Day Care Centre at Northam will now be able to carry out much-needed extensions and renovations, allowing residents to remain in their area of choice and, in many cases, closer to family support.”

The Minister said the latest allocations included money to build a drag strip at Collie Motorplex, allowing the regional facility to attract more competitors and bigger crowds.

Katanning’s Leisure Centre also received funding for extensions to include a multi-purpose hall to cater for gymnastics, martial arts and group fitness as well as the redevelopment of the town hall to provide a 380-seat Regional Entertainment Centre.

Shires in the Peel region were also successful in a joint application for funding to improve Mandejal Brook Trail, through the addition of a multi-use path and bridge; parking and path access; installation of amenity and park furniture; and rehabilitation works.
