South Australia Opposition Leader Isobel Redmond

Don’t Be Fooled It’s The Same Old Labor

Victor P Taffa

Premier Weatherill wants South Australians to believe that his Cabinet announcement is something different – don’t be fooled, it’s the same old Labor.

The same record debt, the same record deficit and the same high taxes still exist – except now, South Australia also has a part-time Treasurer to deal with the economic mess Labor has created after 10 years in government.

“Unfortunately for South Australians nothing has changed – faceless factional men still have a significant influence in a Labor Government. For Premier Weatherill to say otherwise is unbelievable given the role the factions played in installing him as Premier.” Liberal Leader Isobel Redmond said.

“The common denominator through all of Labor’s bad decisions, through a decade of bad government has been Jay Weatherill.”

“Premier Weatherill has been in Cabinet when every one of Labor’s bad decisions was made since it took Government in 2002.”

“Just today, we have another economic report showing South Australia’s economy lagging behind the rest of the nation, with a CommSec Report revealing that SA is at the bottom of all mainland states in the economic rankings.” Ms. Redmond said.

Under Premier Weatherill, South Australia has:

  • The highest taxes in Australia
  • The highest electricity prices in the world
  • The highest water prices of all capital cities
  • The highest ever state budget deficit
  • The highest ever state debt outlook

“Now, under Premier Weatherill, South Australia also has a part-time Treasurer.” Ms. Redmond said.

“Mr Weatherill obviously doesn’t share one of the key priorities of a Redmond Liberal Government or SA families – and that is to repair SA’s economy and help reduce cost of living pressures.”
