Tasmania Falls Behind Thanks To A Lazy Government

Figures released by the ABS today confirm that Tasmania’s economy has flat-lined. Private investment has crashed, capital expenditure has plummeted and Tasmanians continue to lose their jobs, according to Opposition Leader and Shadow Minister for Economic Development Will Hodgman.

“The strain of increased cost of living is hitting Tasmanians hard with the ABS figures showing housing commitments falling, reflecting the financial pressures being placed on Tasmanian families.”

“At a time when Tasmania’s economy is flat-lining and confidence is declining, this Government’s Plan to sack Nurses, Teachers and Public Servants will continue to damage the already struggling economy.” Mr. Hodgman said.

“Tasmania is facing difficult economic times, and without a strong, reliable, stable Government to provide certainty for the economy, the state is going to continue to suffer.”

“After years of having no economic plan, the best this Government can do is now plan to sack our Nurses, Teachers and Public Servants.”

“These figures are just further proof of the damage that this Government is doing to Tasmania.” Mr. Hodgman said.
