Minister for Tourism, Sport and Culture, Lauren Moss today announced an investment of $200,000 into 12 arts projects across the Northern Territory.

Northern Territory Arts Grants Program provides funding to artists, arts workers, not-for-profit arts organisations and community groups for initiatives that benefit the Northern Territory community and arts sector.

“Northern Territory Government’s Arts Grants Program supports local artists to develop their practice and showcase their work, while growing our creative industries, creating new jobs and enriching our community through arts and cultural activities.” Minister for Tourism Sport and Culture Lauren Moss said.

“This funding will assist Territory artists to develop and present new works across a range of art forms including photography, music video, book illustration, dance, theatre, opera, classical music and print making.”

Life After Connections

One of the funded projects, Life After Connections will see a group of 5 female Northern Territory artists present and promote their works in a group exhibition at Kinokawa City Hall Gallery in Wakayama, Japan in October 2019.

Exhibition will feature prints, silk paintings, woven vessels and naturally dyed textiles and provides both an opportunity for Northern Territory artists to collaborate with Japanese artists as well as showcasing Northern Territory arts and culture internationally.

The Unpromised Land

Also funded in this project round is Northern Territory Artist Rob Brown who will be researching and creating a new body of work exploring Territorians titled The Unpromised Land, which will exhibit at the Mayfair Gallery in Darwin followed by a tour to Sydney in late 2019.

Slide Dance Youth Theatre Production Of BRAVE

Another grant recipient is Slide Dance Youth Theatre for their production of BRAVE which will be showing at the Darwin Entertainment Centre from 29 April-1 May, 2019.
